Miter House

Miter House

This project is a contemporary adaptation that reimagines a traditional San Francisco row house. The project includes a vertical expansion, adding a third story and rooftop deck to what was previously a two story home.

Organized around a central structural spine, the home is arranged with flipped floor plans with entry and gym spaces below, bedrooms at the intermediate level, and living spaces above. The stair serves as the primary connective element, linking each level and extending to the roof deck through an operable skylight.

Material elements, including maple slats and brass-clad walls, define the central space. The front of the home faces east, capturing morning light and downtown views through mitered corner windows, while the rear opens west toward Twin Peaks with operable glass walls that extend living spaces to the outdoors.

This transformation shapes a dynamic home defined by vertical living, light, natural wood finishes and connection to its surroundings.
